Run Club Spotlight: Falls Church Run Collective

This week’s Run Club Spotlight highlights an easy going and welcoming group in Falls Church, Virginia. The Falls Church Run Collective, which started in 2025, is a growing group that takes advantage of the W&OD Trail for their two weekly out and back runs. We spoke with the leader of the group to learn more about their runs.

When/Where does the group meet?

We have two weekly runs in Falls Church. On Monday evenings at 6:30 pm we meet at Solace Outpost, and on Friday mornings at 6:30 am we start at Stratford Garden. Check the group’s Instagram account for updates on specific runs.

What makes the Falls Church Run Collective different from other running groups?

We are a loosely associated group of runners and walkers. The age range is between 20 and 75 and members are in all phases of life from recent grads to grandparents. You get a true community connection.

What is the mix of runners and who thrives in your run club?

Runners range from sub-3 hour marathoners to walkers and folks just starting their fitness journey. Friendly runners will thrive here. We are built on community. It’s our backbone. So if you’re interested in running WITH people and/or sharing conversation during and after runs, you’ll fit right in.

Walk us through a typical run.

We usually do a 3 mile course, out and back. But we tell runners to run whatever distance will get them back to the start in 30-40 minutes so we can socialize. In the morning that means coffee and pastries. In the evening it may mean water or an adult beverage and food. The run is through a neighborhood and then onto the W&OD trail.

What should first-timers know before showing up to your run club?

Just show up. There will always be a friendly person there. We have a group of 10-15 runners, and everyone tends to show up right on time.

What do current members say they love most about running with you?

Regulars usually share their race experiences, travel or things going on in their lives. We are easy going.
