While typically associated with the tidal basin, Congressional Cemetery has dozens of beloved cherry blossoms from several different species, including Yoshino, Kanzan, and Okame trees. Pike’s Peek 10K
The Pike’s Peek 10K is one of the Montgomery County Road Runners Club’s premier racing events. The USATF-certified 10k race, known as a "PR course," starts at the Shady Grove Metro Station and finishes on Rose Avenue, just south of Montrose Road. 45th Capitol Hill Classic
The Capitol Hill Classic has been a Capitol Hill tradition for over four decades. Sponsored by the Kitchel Injury Law in 2026 and organized by a team of dedicated volunteers, the Classic consists of a 10K, 3K, and Kids Fun Run. Proceeds from the race support the Capitol Hill Cluster School, a DC Public School.
Packet Pickup and On-Site Registration
The primary site for packet pickup and on-site registration will be at Peabody Primary School (at 425 C St NE).
Packet Pickup dates and times are as follows:
Friday, May 15th from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM
Saturday, May 16th from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM
Sunday, May 17th from 7:00 AM to 8:15 AM (smaller staff will remain until 11:00 AM to handle 3K & fun run participants)
Race Day Schedule
Race day is Sunday, May 17th, 2026, and all races will start and finish in front of Peabody Primary School (425 C St NE). See the course maps for complete details on the start/finish and courses.
10K race start: 8:30 AM
3K race start: immediately following conclusion of 10K (approximately 10:30 AM)
fun run start: immediately following conclusion of 3K (approximately 11:00 AM)
Friends of the National Arboretum Flowering 5K
Enjoy spring at the U.S. National Arboretum during FONA's Flowering 5K. This run or walk will take you past garden collections brightly colored with spring flowers, over tree-lined rolling hills, and along streams winding their way to the Anacostia River. Enjoy cherry blossoms, magnolias, and so much more!
