Your Last Chance to Race the DC Streetcar

The H Street Runners are hosting the “Last Annual Running of the Streetcar” on March 28, 2026 to mark the end of the DC Streetcar service along H Street NE and Benning Road.

The informal event will kick off at 12:30 p.m. at the corner of Benning Road and Oklahoma St NE, where runners will meet in advance of the 1:00 p.m. streetcar departure. The route, approximately 1.9 miles, will take runners to 3rd and H St NE, and give them a chance to see if they are faster than the streetcar.

Last year, the District Department of Transportation announced that streetcar service would end on March 31, 2026, marking the end of a long saga that was marred by budget constraints, delays, and setbacks.
